We are at it again

superwheelie.jpg

Well after Much debate and on again off again trips, we decided to head down to Winchester Bay. Jesse was going to be there so we thought we should try those dunes. I must say if you have never been to Winchester , You would never know that there are Amazing Dunes there. Michelle left the trip planning up to me. So as you would have guessed it we headed down with no place to stay. We went to our usual mid-point stop on the way down, WAL-MART

We got up in the morning and headed for the dunes. Our group was small this time, Chris and Rayne, Gary and Sandy, Brent and Michelle, Amanda and I.

Not as many buggies, but we knew we were going to have just as much fun. After Amanda got here flat tire fixed up( her flat tire as I was driving my truck down). We never arrived to Winchester until late in the afternoon. We pulled into Winchester and thought,"Man there is nothing here" Brent was the lead vehicle so he said he would go scout out the dunes. Every so often he would say on the CB " There is a long narrow road and I dont see any dunes. Then he would get back on and say " I found a parking lot and these dunes are tiny, but the road continues" Finally we could barely hear him as he said" Oh Man these are the most amazing dunes I have ever seen!!" That brought a smile to all our faces.

Sunday we headed out to conquer the Winchester Dunes. We had a great ride. Everyone ran out great. Day was nice and  the ride was  nice. Monday was another great day we headed out and Chris spun a disk and Brent had a clutch problem. We fixed them that day.

Tuesday we headed out to Horsefalls. We had to park way in the back and drive our buggies around into Horsefalls. Was an amazing ride everyone did Fab. Great hill climbs and and great all around duning. We ran into a longtravel buggy with a Northstar in it. The guy was doing jumps up a steep hill. Well Chris thought he and I could jump better. So we kicked the kids and wives out and went and checked this guy out. After a few minor jumps , Chris decides this is enough and it is time to show this $40,000.00 what a "junk yard" buggy can do. Chris unleashes his mazda and and starts to climb this hill in a full wheelie. I have never seen this thing scream up a hill so fast. Only problem is when you are wheeling up a hill your buggy is now at a 90 degree angle. (Straight up) Chris launches himself straight up into the blue sky. I am sure everybody said the same thing "HOLY SH*T" Chris was now about 5" off the ground with his backend. The wind now catches his buggy and won't let it land forward and you know that old saying " what goes up must come down" Well I gaurentee there was silence on the dunes as this thing came straight down and landed on the back cage. Now it was like watching a coin toss "Heads or Tails" The Canadians won the toss that day as he landed rubber side down. Once he hit, there were cheers, and I am sure a sigh of relief from Chris. He come back down to the bottom of the hill and said " ok buddy your turn" I told him not on his life. For that I recieved an infamous "Chris Sandshower" So I had to take the jump. Landed the Limo very well.On the way back Brent decides on the beach it was wheelie time for him. Out gets Taylor and off he goes. First attempt he gets about 12" off. Not good enough, next attempt he rev's it until the belt squeels, side steps the clutch and *POOF* chatters the spider gears. All I can say is " man you can drive well in Reverse".That night Brent went out and bought a used Tranny to put in the next day.

The next day was a fix it day. Brent did his Tranny with all our help. I had to clean out my carbs. We had a nice day. But that night we were all fixed and had to go out. This is the night Jesse broke his gas tank mount.

On the 4th we had to go out. We got to the dunes nice and early. Tech3 was there with thier show cars. Very nice rails. Dottie and Brian also showed up.It was great to see them again. Dottie rides a mean quad. We met the begining of the dune goons. We decided to chase Jess around the dunes. Was a great ride even hooked up with another Northstar who asked if he could ride with us. And ofcourse he could. We had a wicked day No break downs. Headed back to camp for a seafood feast and to watch the most amazing fireworks I had seen for such a small place. The bay was packed with people from all over.

Friday (my last day). I headed out to get spots for us. You must get there early if you want a good spot to park in. Gary and Brent had some more repairs to do. Chris and I decided to take a quick ride. Jesse headed home that day.Well we were flying along when we saw this long trail of buggies playing follow the leader. I flag Chris and said" Lets join em EH!"so we hooked on at the end . We went for a great ride and then we stopped about 15 minutes later and all these guys/gals got out of thier buggies and came over to introduce themselves as "THE DUNE GOONS" they were a great bunch. We even got the honor of seein the "Newbie" Jerry roll over his rail and then was awarded the "DUCK" You get the duck when you do something stupid. You keep the duck until someone does something stupid. Speaking of the Duck we have now got the "RUBBER CHICKEN"  So if you are with us and you do something stupid you will get the chicken. I am sure Brent will be more than happy to give it to you. Well you are thinking to yourself," why does Brent have it?" Well You see Brent rolled his buggy 2 and 1/2 times down a dune, knocking both tires off the bead and wrecking a drum and hmmm what happened to your lights???

Well that is it for this trip. Next one is in October when the Chicken may be up for grabs.

Cheers
